Strong Start for Flynn
Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame receiver James Flynn (6-0.5, 178), is gelling with new Knights quarterback Ryan Kasdorf just fine. After being one of current Notre Dame freshman Dayne Crist's favorite targets a year ago, Flynn has developed a good chemistry with Kasdorf to help the Knights to a 4-0 record as they prep for a big game tonight against Servite. "It's always good to prove people wrong," said Flynn. "A lot of people said we'd be something like 3-7 and we're already 4-0. We've done really well." Flynn had two touchdown receptions in the Knights FSN-televised win over Saugus, covering 67 and 83 yards. On the year, he's got 14 receptions for 479 yards and has reached the end zone seven times. Now, Flynn is hoping that more colleges take notice. "I've been talking to coaches, phone calls and stuff like that, and some schools like Northwestern and Vanderbilt are asking if I would go on a visit. We might go visit Vanderbilt, they've been playing great," said Flynn. There have also been coaches coming to the Knights' game, Nevada and UCLA the most recent. "I'm hearing from Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Dartmouth, Penn, Boston College and UCLA," said Flynn. "My top five would probably be Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Boston College, UCLA and Virginia." Despite a strong start, and a steady junior year, Flynn is still waiting for his first offer. "I'm taking it in stride, I'm just happy how the year is going so far," said Flynn. "We're winning and I'm happy with the way things are going because it could be going a heck of a lot worse." And he's hopeful that offers are coming, which would allow him to take some visits. "I definitely want to go and visit any school, anyone who offers me, I definitely want to see the atmosphere," said Flynn. "I really feel like an offer is coming." Flynn is in solid academic standing, carrying a 3.8 GPA and taking the SAT again in November.
