"We started off with a loss against Blinn CC (TX)," added
Rudell Crim. "It was a big showdown. That game woke us up and we have not
looked back. Right now, we are 4-1, and we are trying to write the next chapter."
The
former Tallahassee (FL) standout made a name for himself as a freshman.
"I
had 33 tackles, 3 picks (one for a defensive TD), 2 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and
6 batted down balls."
How did Crim end up at Butler CC?
"They
came to my high school. They were the only junior college who came and spoke to
my parents one on one. I respected that. I said this is the place for me. I could
come in, stayed focus on my books, and have a chance to win a national championship."
Who
were the main colleges that recruited Ruddell out of high school?
"My
top 3 were Arkansas, South Florida, and Louisville."
Who are the main
schools involved this time around?
"Louisville, Kansas, Kansas State,
Maryland, South Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Iowa State. They have all offered
me."
What stands out with Louisville?
"It is a place I
can fit in. Cobey Smith and William Gabe go there, and they played with me at
my old high school. We grew up together. I looked at Louisville out of high school,
and it is a place where you can get to the league and get your degree."
What
about Kansas State?
"I have a former teammate who plays there, and
he said it is a great school if you want to work hard. I want to go visit and
see what it is like."
Kansas?
"I have not had a chance
to get over there yet."
What are Arkansas' positives?
"I
have a God brother, Michael Smith, who plays there now. I went and visited and
I could see myself there. Coming from a junior college, I could see myself there.
The fans always make you feel welcome. They give you a lot of attention, and you
can get a good degree from Arkansas."
And Ole Miss?
"They
are recruiting me real hard right now. Those coaches recruited me out of high
school too, so I am pretty familiar with them. They came by the school yesterday,
but I have not had a chance to find out about Ole Miss yet. I want to go check
it out and see if I would fit in."
Any visits lined up?
"Not
now, but I am about to start setting those up. I am still scheduled to get out
in December, so I am about to get on those."
