Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame linebacker Ace Ward has played a key role in the Knights 5-0 start, a surprise to many who thought the Knights would be hurt by graduation.
“We’re having a great season so far,” said Ward. “Our offense is through the roof and our defense is holding its own.”
On the recruiting front, Ward is still waiting for his first offer, but the dialogue has been picking up with Ward and college coaches.
“I’m getting many calls and e-mails from coaches and I’m just sending tapes and highlights so I’m hoping for that elusive offer soon,” said Ward.
A handful of schools have been in communication with him.
“Most of my calls are from Nevada, Idaho and BYU,” said Ward. “Nevad and UCLA have attended one of my games and I’m also receiving letters from Utah and Idaho State. There are some other I-AA programs calling too. Many schools have recently requested early season game film that I’m sending off this week.”
Through five games, Ward has 54 tackles, 10 for loss, six sacks, two blocked punts, and a fumble recovery.
