Pound for pound, their may not be a tougher runner in the West than Las Vegas (Nev.) Sierra Vista running back Akil Sharp.
Sharp exploded onto the scene this spring and summer, with several standout performances on the camp and combine circuit.
At the Badger/New Level 7-on-7 tournament in his hometown, Sharp was named to the All-Camp team after helping the hosts into the quarterfinals.
He followed it up with MVP performances at a couple more camps and its translated just fine onto the field this fall.
The progression that Sharp has made from his junior to senior season is evident in this film from the 2008 campaign.
Sharp, already pretty explosive, has shown the willingness to run between the tackles and take on more contact, and at 5-9, 200, isn't afraid to get physical.
Through seven games, Sharp has rushed for 827 yards and ten touchdowns. Defensively, he has 34 tackles and a blocked field goal. On special teams, he's averaging 33.3 yards a kick return.
Here are 2008 clips of Sharp in action.
