Although cornerback Desmond Trufant says he'd like to take all five allowable official visits, he insists he won't hesitate pulling the trigger if the right situation presents itself. "If I find a place I love during my visit then I'll take it," Trufant said. "I won't wait if it feels right." Trufant said he continues to favor Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Washington State.

Desmond Trufant, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound three-star cornerback from Wilson Senior High School in Tacoma, Wash., still has six scholarship offers and admits he's having a tough time narrowing down his choices.

"I'm still neutral," Trufant said. "I need to take my visits first.

"I want to see how the coaches are and the kind of people the players are," he said. "I want to enjoy my four years there and need to make sure I get along with everyone."

Trufant, ranked as the No. 65 cornerback in the country by Scout.com, hasn't scheduled any official visits yet but says he will do so soon. "I'm talking to them about setting up the visits," he said. "I should have some dates set next week."

Although he says he'd like to take all five official visits, Trufant says he won't hesitate pulling the trigger if the right situation presents itself. "If I find a place I love during my visit then I'll take it," he said. "I won't wait if it feels right."

Trufant said he continues to favor Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado, Washington and Washington State. All five have offered him as well as Idaho.

He's only visited the Oregon, Washington and Washington State campuses so far.

"Our team went to a camp at Oregon during the summer and it was great," Trufant said. "I really like the coaches, especially the defensive back coach John Neal. He's a cool guy and seems like he really cares about football and life. He's also a real good teacher and felt like I learned a lot from him during the camp."

Trufant also likes the defensive back coach (Greg Burns) at Arizona State. "He played at Washington State and my brother (Seattle Seahawk cornerback Marcus Trufant) went to Wazzu too," he said.

"I also really like the area a lot," he said. "My other brother (Isaiah Trufant, who went to Eastern Washington) plays Arena football for the Rattlers in Arizona, so I'd be close to him if I went there."

With his older brother playing for the Cougars, Trufant admits he grew up following Washington State and says they were his first offer during his junior season.

"I like Wazzu," he said. "I think they've got the right people in place to rebuild. They just need to keep working hard and they'll start winning.

"I think they just need some key impact players," Trufant said. "That'll make a big difference."

Although he grew up liking the Cougars, his hometown team is the Huskies. "Washington is only 30 minutes away," he said. "I'll go anywhere but it helps that it's close. It's not a big deal, but having my family around would be nice. Plus, U-Dub feels like home."

The team that has impressed Trufant the most this season is Colorado. "They are looking real good," he said. "The program seems to be getting better and the coach is doing great. They are a real rising team."

Wilson Senior High School is currently 2-5 and Trufant has 50 tackles on defense. He's also been playing running back and has rushed for approximately 600 yards and eight touchdowns.

He says he can bench-press 260-pounds and squats 380. Trufant has a 37-inch vertical jump and runs a 4.5 forty.

"I have good coverage ability," he said. "I also have great agility and am real good guard receivers man-to-man.

"I'm real aggressive and like going one-on-one," Trufant said. "I have good technique and am smooth with everything I do, but I want to be better on the run. I want to take better angles and run better routes. I'd like to improve my changing directions and have quicker feet."

Trufant is also being recruited for track and considers himself a "jumper." He has a personal best long jump of 22'7", triple jumps 46'7" and high jumps 6'2".

"I haven't decided if I'll do track in college," he said. "I'm not sure yet."

Trufant reports a 3.0 core GPA and a 1200 SAT and 19 ACT.
