Marshall Talks About ASU Visit
San Jose (Calif.) Valley Christian running back Cameron Marshall (5-10, 205), took his first official visit this weekend, heading to the desert to see Arizona State. "It was great and it was really fun," said Marshall. "I took an unofficial visit out there this summer, but this was my official first trip and I had a lot of fun out there. The weight room was great, the facilities were really great. The game atmosphere was great too. The student section was cool and they got a lot of fan support. The game didn't go as well as ASU or myself had hoped, but I had a great time." Marshall was hosted by freshman Deveron Carr and also spent time with some fellow Californians. "Deveron was my host and he was a real cool guy and there was a guy from the L.A. area, Ryan Bass, the running back, and I got to talk with him a little bit. All the players were pretty cool," said Marshall. Marshall spent a lot of time with the Sun Devil coaching staff, primarily running backs coach Jamie Christian as well as head coach Dennis Erickson. "Coach Christian showed me around the school and I got to spend time talking with Coach Erickson. My conversations with Coach Erickson went well and they were great conversations. He's a great guy and he definitely knows what he's talking about. He is a great coach who'd coached in the NFL and has a lot of experience," said Marshall. Marshall said that as much as he liked Tempe and Arizona State, committing didn't really cross his mind. "I'm not ready to make a decision. I don't have a top five right now. I definitely want to take some time and see my options. I want to visit some more schools. I'm not sure if I'll take all five of them, so I'll wait it out and see how that goes," said Marshall. Marshall doesn't have any immediate plans for more trips, but knows one school he's certain he wants to visit. "Since they're doing such a good job recruiting me, I'd say Northwestern is the next most likely trip," said Marshall. Marshall has double digit offers, from schools like Arizona, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Cal, Northwestern, Utah, Texas A&M, UNLV and Utah State as well as Arizona State. Prior to leaving for Tempe, Marshall had a big night for Valley Christian, rushing for 147 yards on 14 carries and scoring four touchdowns in a 47-14 rout of Mountain View St. Francis. This weekend, their set to take on San Francisco Sacred Heart Cathedral, where he'll face Cal commit Dasarte Yarnway. "It's always fun to be matched up against great players. And since I play defense, I get to make sure he doesn't have a great game. I know we'll have a good game plan though," said Marshall. Academically, Marshall is in solid shape with a 3.3 GPA and scored a 1290 on the SAT.
