"All Eyes Are on Me."

"I told all the coaches that I won't be taking visits until after the season," said Florida tight end, Orson Charles. "I have too much to focus on right now. Our season is going well, but we lost our quarterback (five-star Georgia commit Aaron Murray, Scout.com's No. 2 quarterback nationwide, who suffered a broken leg) and now there's a lot more expected of me. All eyes are on me now..."

Orson Charles, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound four-star tight end from Plant Senior High School in Tampa, Fla., has helped lead his team to a 6-1 record with over 700 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.

Charles, ranked as the No. 4 tight end in the country by Scout.com, continues to deny a leader and insists he's not even thinking about college recruiting.

"I'm gonna wait until after the season," he said. "I have too much to focus on right now. Our season is going well, but we lost our quarterback (five-star Georgia commit Aaron Murray, Scout.com's No. 2 quarterback nationwide, who suffered a broken leg) and now there's a lot more expected of me. All eyes are on me now."

With approximately 30 offers, Charles hasn’t even scheduled any visits yet. "I told all the coaches that I won't be taking visits until after the season," he said. "They all seem to respect that and aren't pressuring me or anything.

"I'm just going to talk to my pastor and pray about things," Charles said.

As a youngster Charles followed Miami and still likes the 'Canes. "They have a young team and I like coach Randy Shannon a lot," he said. "He's doing great and I think they are getting better. I think that I'd be able to make an impact for them."

Charles says the school that is recruiting him the hardest is Nebraska. "They send me mail consistently and they all call regularly when they can," he said. "The coaches seem real nice and they are another up-and-coming team."

Another team that is trying to get back to their old glory days is Florida State. "I think they are really turning it around," he said. "They are starting to play solid football. I was at the Miami game and I liked how they were able to put some points on the board."

The team that has impressed Charles the most this season is No. 5 Florida. "They are just so explosive," he said. "I don't understand how they lost to Ole Miss. They just put 60 plus points on Kentucky and that's not something you see a lot.

"With how they are playing right now, they could probably play in the national championship," Charles said. "They are probably the best one-loss team right now."

The only school that Charles is considering that hasn't offered him yet is Notre Dame. "They are close to offering, I think," he said. "They want my highlight tape and my coach is taking care of that. They also said they like me for wide receiver, not tight end."

Another thing the Irish are waiting on are Charles' test results. "I was about 100 points shy," he said. "So I'm close, but I have to take the test again."

Charles hasn't scheduled a retake yet and reports a 3.0 core GPA.
