Pac-10 Focus

Offensive lineman Kevin Danser still has offers from Arizona and Washington, but no trips set. He's also hoping California, UCLA and Stanford will offer, in particular. "Stanford and UCLA coaches have come by my games the past couple weeks," Danser said. "I know that (UCLA offensive line) coach Bob Palcic and (special teams) coach Frank Gansz were at my game last week..."

Kevin Danser, the 6-foot-5, 290-pound three-star offensive lineman from Bellarmine College Prep in San Jose, Calif., has helped lead his team to a 6-1 record and says he plans to focus on his senior season before he takes any official visits.

"I'm going to wait and take my trips after the season is over," Danser said. "I'm close to setting one up with Arizona though, but that'll probably be in December or January."

Danser, Scout.com's No. 60 offensive tackle, still only has offers from Arizona and Washington. However, with the recent announcement that coach Tyrone Willingham will step down at the end of the season, he's not sure where he will stand with the Huskies.

"I'm just interested to see who they bring in (as head coach)," he said. "If the new coaches are still interested in me, then I'll still be interested in them.

"Washington is a great school and the program has a lot of tradition," Danser said. "They've had a lot of success and I'm sure they'll be able to rebuild."

Besides the Wildcats and Huskies, Danser also mentions California, UCLA and Stanford and is hoping they'll offer. "Stanford and UCLA coaches have come by my games the past couple weeks," he said. "I know that (UCLA offensive line) coach Bob Palcic and (special teams) coach Frank Gansz were at my game last week.

"I think they just want to see me play some more and evaluate me," Danser said.

"UCLA has a great program and I like what the new coaches are doing," he said. "They are working really hard and you can tell they are serious about making them a top team. It's good to see coaches that are so motivated to be the best."

Danser is also impressed with the improvements that Stanford has made. "They are definitely up-and-coming," he said. "The coaches are real good and I like that it's near home. I'd love to keep a close connection with my family, so the location is great."

In fact, Danser attended the Stanford/Arizona game on Oct. 11. "It was a real good game," he said. "They didn't really run the ball as much as I'd like, but they played well and I was surprised by the crowd. It got really intense and the stadium was full."

The Cardinal defeated the Wildcats that day, but overall Danser admits he's been the most impressed with Arizona this season. "I really like how well they are playing right now," he said. "They had a close game against USC and it seems like they are turning the corner."

The only other game that he's attended this season was Cal's home opener against Michigan State early in the season. "Cal is usually a top 25 team and they aren't doing as well this year," he said. "But they are still a good team and I really like how much they run the ball. As a lineman that's what you look for and I think I'd be able to fit in with their offense."

Danser is an exceptional student with a 3.6 core GPA and a 1600 SAT and 26 ACT. "I'm actually in the process of filling out my application to Stanford," he said.

His brother, Tim Danser, plays offensive line for Brown.
