Tony Straughter Update

Four star linebacker Tony Straughter is having a solid season, and as a result, recruiting is heating up. After committing to South Carolina, Straughter says several teams have stepped up their efforts to land the talented JuCo athlete. Go inside to read more.
"We're 8-1," stated
Tony Straughter
. "Our only loss was early in the season to Navarro Community College in Texas."
A big part of Georgia Military College's success can be attributed to Staughter's play.
"Right now I have 43 tackles. 31 are solo and 12 are assisted. I also have 3.5 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries."
Despite several colleges coming after the talented four star athlete, Straughter admits that
South Carolina
has done a good job of recruiting him post commitment.
"I'm still very much committed to South Carolina. They are still after me hard. They are making sure I'm doing what I need to do as far as academics go. I love their coaches and I had a great time at my official visit."
Previously,
Kansas State
was making up ground with Straughter and an official visit was set for later this month.
"I no longer have interest in Kansas State after the fired Coach Prince. I'm not planning on taking my visit there."
West Virginia
has a visit set up with Straughter on the 6th of December but that could change.
"We may be playing in a bowl game. I'm not sure if that date will work. We'll have to see. I love West Virginia's coaches. They always tell me they need linebackers. They are telling me that they have new locker rooms that are almost completed. They should be done after our season. I can't wait to see them."
While Straughter has acquired a very impressive offer sheet consisting of
Tennessee
,
Ole Miss
, West Virginia, South Carolina,
East Carolina
,
TCU
and Kansas State, a new team has caught the eye of the talented Floridian.
"
South Florida
is coming after me hard. They are calling me every week and recruiting a lot of my teammates. I'm originally from Florida so I like that they are close to home. We're working on getting a visit lined up. They have not offered but I feel that they are close."
Will Straughter take any other visits?
"I was trying to set up a visit to Ole Miss when they played Auburn on November 1st but it didn't work out. I'd like to visit Ole Miss but I'm not sure if I will. I plan on talking with some of their coaches soon to see if there is another date that we could work out for a visit."
Straughter is on track to join South Carolina in December. He will have 2.5 years to play 2.
