Gorman Takes Over the Reigns

When Scout.com traveled to Manheim, Pa., last Friday night to see Dakota Royer play another junior that definitely stood out was quarterback Justin Gorman, a prospect who just took over the reigns as a signal caller recently after an injury to the teams’ senior starter. Gorman is already getting FBS-level looks and could be a nice catch for 2010.
To look out for his teams’ best interests
Justin Gorman
started this season playing wide receiver and cornerback even though he had the ability to easily be the starting quarterback for Manheim Central. A few weeks ago the 6-foot, 170-pound junior had to take over the position after an injury and in the two games since then he has thrown for 537 yards and four touchdowns while also adding three more scores with his feet.
“Last year I played cornerback and was the backup quarterback,” Gorman said. “This year our coach told me that with my speed they really needed me to play cornerback and wide receiver again, so I did whatever would help us win. When our quarterback went down I stepped in and have felt comfortable in the last two games.”
Comfortable indeed…Gorman will keep the starting position throughout the playoffs and with the talent on the Manheim Central roster, it looks like that run could end up being pretty long. Colleges have also taken notice of Gorman already.
“I went down to see
Navy
play
Temple
and got to go onto the field before the game and then watched from the front row which was really cool,” Gorman explained. “After the game they invited me into the locker room and the players were all great guys and telling me they hoped I would go there. I also thought the coaches were probably the best I’ve met so far. I completely understand the service commitment I would make going to the Naval Academy and am very comfortable with it. Right now I’d say they’re already one of my top schools.”
“
Virginia
invited me down to watch them play
Clemson
on November 22nd, so I’ll be going there and I’m also hearing from Temple,
Wyoming
and
Colorado
right now.”
Gorman carries a weighted 4.0 GPA and will take the SAT in January.
