Alabama: Trent Richardson, D.J. Fluker, AJ McCarron
Alabama has a chance to finish near the top in the recruiting rankings if they close strong with the top prospects remaining on the recruiting board. The Tide has several big commitments, but perhaps none bigger than Trent Richardson and D.J. Fluker.
Richardson, rated a five-star prospect, plans to visit a few schools. Alabama remains in great shape to secure the commitment come signing day.
Alabama junior left tackle Andre Smith is expected to enter the NFL draft and likely the No. 1 lineman and overall selection. A battle will brew in Tuscaloosa for his starting spot, and D.J.Fluker could earn a starting role after his dominating senior season.
Arkansas: Darius Winston, Knile Davis
Arkansas is having a tough season, but coach Bobby Petrino should see vast improvement by year No. 2. The Razorbacks landed the must--get recruit in Darius Winston. The five-star defender was offered by schools across the country, but he decided not to leave his home state.
The Razorbacks are known to have big, tough nasty offensive lineman, and they have added depth in the class by securing the commitment of four before the start of the season.
Arkansas also added a game breaker at tailback is Knile Davis. He has seen some hard luck in recovering from two consecutive season ending injuries, but once healthy could see early playing time.
Auburn: Montez Robinson, Raymond Cotton
The Tigers started strong with 21 of their 25 commitments on board before the start of the season. These recruits were also on board before the dismissal of offensive coordinator Tony Franklin. Auburn is looking for an answer at the quarterback position and have a stud commitment from Raymond Cotton.
The Tigers are always known for their great defense, and they have one of the best committed in four-star defensive end Montez Robinson. The Tigers are watching Alabama and Georgia as they aggresively recruit the Indiana native as well.
Florida: Nu’keese Richardson, Nick Kasa, Nick Alajajian
The Gators are known for speed, but Florida may not ever see a group as fast as they have now. The electric playmakers such as Percy Harvin, Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey and Brandon James have the SEC-East power playing in the SEC Championship.
Florida reloads to the offensive side of the ball with the commitment of four-star wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson. The Gators have a commitment from the No. 1 guard in the country Nick Alajajian. Coach Urban Meyer has recently added the commitment from five-star defensive end Nick Kasa as well.
Georgia: Aaron Murray, Abry Jones
Georgia head coach Mark Richt has made it almost impossible for an out-of-state program to out-recruit him in the Peach State. The Bulldogs have certainly loaded up with in-state players led by Scout.com five-star defensive tackle Abry Jones and four-star running back Washaun Ealey.
A big quarterback battle is in the future between five-star Aaron Murray and four-star Zach Mettenberger. Coach Richt is smiling this Thanksgiving with his terrific class and could get a lot better with top prospects, like Marlon Brown and Branden Smith, remaining on the recruiting board.
LSU: Chris Davenport, Russell Shepard
LSU has been very successful when it comes to recruiting, and the results on the field have usually proven it. The Tigers are putting together another stellar class, and it all starts within the state borders.
Chris Davenport was a must-get recruit for head coach Les Miles, and he is a solid commitment. Davenport could have a future on either side of the ball, but is seen as the next elite defensive tackle in Baton Rouge.
LSU dipped in the Lone Star State for five-star quarterback Russell Shepard who could compete very early as well as three-star quarterback Chris Garrett from Tupelo, Miss.
Mississippi State: Fletcher Cox, Montrell Conner, Josh Boyd
Mississippi State has focused primarily on their home turf as the Magnolia State is loaded with talent. The Bulldogs received commitments from two of the best defensive players in the state with three-star defensive end Fletcher Cox and four-star defensive tackle Josh Boyd.
Coach Sylvester Croom may have his quarterback of the future in Tyler Russell. The biggest out-of-state commitment came from four-star running back Montrell Conner.
Ole Miss: Markell Lee, Demond Washington
The Ole Miss offense is loaded with talent, and they will receive a big boost in running back Demond Washington. The four-star JuCo prospect has blazing speed and could make an early impact for the Rebels.
Markell Lee and Mike Thomas are two great defensive ends who have tremendous upside. The two could form a dominating presence on the defensive line.
South Carolina: Devonte Holloman, Chaz Sutton
The surprise team of the SEC has been South Carolina. It’s not a secret head coach Steve Spurrier knows how to recruit, but the Gamecocks have really loaded up with talent.
The dismissal of Tommy Bowden at Clemson during the middle of the season opened the recruitment of five-star safety Devonte Holloman who switched his commitment to the Gamecocks.
South Carolina also benefitted from another switched commitment from former Tennessee verbal D.J. Swearinger. Four-star defensive end commitments Chaz Sutton and Aldrick Fordham could see early playing time in Columbia.
Tennessee: Tajh Boyd, David Oku
The recruiting class at Tennessee was beginning to return to elite status. The Volunteers had the No. 1 class in 2005, but have taken a dip since that time. They received commitments from five-star quarterback Taj Boyd and five-star running back David Oku, but the two prospects aren’t so sure Knoxville is the right place for their services.
Most of the current commitments have re-opened their recruitment or scheduled official visits to other schools. The Volunteers only had commitments from two in-state players, Zach Rogers and Kevin Revis, and both remain solid with their commitment.
Vanderbilt: Mason Johnston, Darrius McMullin
The bowl eligible Vanderbilt is counting their blessings this holiday season Coach Bobby Johnson has turned the academic program into a contending football school as well. The Commodores had SEC wins over Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Kentucky.
Recruits are taking notice, and Vanderbilt has several good commitments on board. Three three running back commitments are eager to spread their wings in Nashville including Zach Stacy, who is a very underrated back.
Mason Johnston is talented tight end who chose Vanderbilt over several scholarship offers, and Darrius McMullin is an explosive defensive lineman who should contribute early.
Clemson: Malliciah Goodman, J.K. Jay
The Clemson Tigers are fighting to hang on to commitments as several including the No.1 and No. 2 safeties in the country have jumped ship. The remaining commitments are eager to learn who is hired as the head coach at the end of the season.
Scout.com four-star defensive end Malliciah Goodman and four-star offensive tackle J.K. Jay could see early playing time if they decide to stick with their commitment.
Duke: Desmond Scott, John Drew
Head coach David Cutcliffe has received 27 commitments to date. Desmond Scott is a big time back who chose to stay at home in Durham over several elite offers including Georgia, Tennessee and West Virginia. Scout.com three-star defensive tackle John Drew was a great pickup for the Duke Blue Devils as well.
Florida State Jacobbi McDaniel, C.J. Mizell
Florida State has been hauling in elite recruiting classes for years, and this year is no different. The Seminoles' first commitment came from five-star defensive tackle Jacobbi McDaniel.
The class has continued to thrive on the defensive side of the ball with four-star safeties JaJuan Harley and Willie Downs. C.J. Mizell is another stud linebacker which Florida State is accustomed to having on defense.
Georgia Tech: Roderick Sweeting, Stephen Hill
The Yellow Jackets have moved to an option offense which has been explosive this season. Coach Paul Johnson recruited two speed backs in Demond Dennis and Orwin Smith, plus bulldozing fullback Daniel Drummond. Every offense needs a playmaker at receiver, and the Jackets have him in four-star Stephen Hill.
The defense has loaded up with four-star cornerback Roderick Sweeting and four-star defensive end J.C. Lanier.
Miami: Lamar Miller, Bryce Brown, Brandon McGee
The Miami Hurricanes have several freshmen playing key roles for coach Randy Shannon, and the talent is getting richer. The Canes have landed commitments from two of the best running backs in the country in Bryce Brown and Lamar Miller. These two will have a significant impact in Coral Gables. Brandon McGee is a solid pickup in the secondary.
North Carolina: Donte Moss, Justin Dixon, Jheranie Boyd
North Carolina has put together a very strong recruiting class headlined by Scout.com five-star defensive end Donte Moss. The Tar Heels have added a lot of depth on defense including four-star linebacker Justin Dixon. One of the biggest commitments for coach Butch Davis is four-star wide receiver Jheranie Boyd.
North Carolina State: Denzelle Good, Everett Proctor
The Wolfpack may not have any five or four-star recruits committed as of yet, but several have big time potential. Denzelle Good is a monster offensive lineman who could see significant playing time. Everett Proctor is a talented quarterback who is very athletic and could play other positions.
South Florida: Ricardo Dixon, Kendall Kelly
South Florida has been a program on the rise and plucking some of the state’s best on a yearly basis. The Bulls have several good commitments especially in the defensive backfield with three-star cornerback Ricardo Dixon and three-star safety Jaquez Jenkins.
Coach Jim Leavitt has secured a couple of standout offensive lineman in three-star offensive guards Kendall Kelly and Camran Joyer.
Central Florida: Troy Davis, Tay Irvin
Central Florida is competing with the top programs in the Southeast and landing commitments from talented prospects. The Knights have focused on the defensive side of the ball and picked up two studs from Georgia in three-star linebacker Troy Davis and three-star defensive tackle Tay Irvin.
Wake Forest: Justin Jackson, Daniel Mack
Wake Forest recruits all across the country, but have more commitments from the state of Florida than any other state. The Demon Deacons received a commitment from three-star linebacker Daniel Mack who will add a lot of athleticism and speed to the defense.
In-state linebacker Justin Jackson could have a big impact as well. Wake Forest has a really good quarterback commitment in Brendan Cross who hails from Georgia.
