What's Up With Rob Hollomon?
By

For those who haven’t been following the stat-line for West Catholic High School running back Rob Hollomon, he has been absolutely ridiculous in the playoffs so far this season for the Burrs. Hollomon does already have a few offers to play at the next level, but with his numbers it’s hard to figure out why there aren’t more.
Rob Hollomon
is sharing the ball at West Catholic High School with two other Division I-A prospects in
Raymond Maples
and
Penn State
commitment
Curtis Drake
. All three of those players have gone over 1,000 yards this season with Hollomon leading the bunch at 1742 yards on only 125 carries. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound running back has also accounted for 242 points this season, which begs the question, what is the deal in his recruiting?
It’s understandable that teams look for size at the running back position, however players like
Tavon Austin
and
Noel Devine
are highly recruited on a yearly basis. Now, that is not a suggestion that Hollomon is at the same skill level as those two players, however given his awesome production, especially in the playoffs, you would think that he would have more than three offers from
Northwestern
, Georgia State and
Navy
, especially with how much the spread offense is being used in today’s age of college football.
So far in six playoff games for West Catholic, Hollomon has rushed for 922 yards and 22 touchdowns on only
53 carries
. He scored
five touchdowns
in the first quarter of his teams’ playoff game against Kennedy-Kendrick, tying a Philadelphia Catholic League record. If you take his latest performance against Dunmore out of the equation, Hollomon is averaging 22 yards per carry while sharing the ball with two other people out of the backfield. He has also intercepted five passes this season. With this type of production shouldn’t more schools be looking his way? One would think so, even if he is a bit diminutive.
Boston College
,
Maryland
,
Syracuse
,
North Carolina State
and
Connecticut
have been in contact with him recently and after the performance he’s been putting on down the stretch this season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him come up with a few more offers by signing day.
