GA LB Impressed With Coach Kiffin
"It's great," Nigel Mitchell-Thornton said, responding to the question about his thoughts on Tennessee's newest Head Coach. This is pretty much consistent with the general sentiment regarding the hiring of Lane Kiffin, but many of the Vols' commits are still quick to praise Coach Fulmer and what he means to the University. "I was actually up there this past weekend for Coach Fulmer and some of the staff's last game," he shared. "It was a great and classy tribute to what they have done." What was your initial reaction to the hiring of Coach Lane Kiffin? "I heard that he is a defensive guy and I am excited that they got a guy with a great defensive mind," he shared. "I also heard that he has ties to the NFL." When you and I last spoke, you said that you were looking around. How does the coaching hire change that, if at all? "The reason why I actually started to open up to other colleges was because I wasn't sure who they were going to get," he said. "The fact that they got somebody this early is great because it will give me an idea of what they are going to run." Since you have opened things up a bit, which schools will receive an Official Visit from you? "I know that I am taking an Official Visit to Tennessee this weekend," he said. "And with Florida, there is a 60% chance that I will take one." So is it safe to assume that you have narrowed your list down to these two schools? "Oh No Sir," he offered. "I am still talking to other schools." I know that you were considering graduating early, but that was when you were heading up to Knoxville. Will you still try to enroll early, regardless of where you end up? "I think for the most part I will decide by December 20th, and I know that if I make my decision to go to UT, I can go in January," he shared. "If not, then I'll probably just stay in high school second semester and do some joint enrollment courses." I'll just figure it out from there."
