Henry Conway Talks Cincinnati Visit
For Henry Conway recruiting has been something he’s learned to take his time with. With several offers in hand the 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive lineman from Shaker Heights High School (OH) had to make some choices about where to visit. The Bearcats got his first visit. “I just got back from Cincinnati,” said Henry Conway by phone. “Cincinnati is a great college and Brian Kelly is doing something special there with the Bearcats. Their playing in the Orange Bowl and won the Big East so it’s a program I have a lot of interest in.” While the Bearcats beat out Indiana for a visit this weekend, the talented Conway has two more visits scheduled before looking at making his college choice. “I’m going to Michigan on January 9-th and then Michigan State the following weekend for official visits. Michigan hasn’t offered me yet but they are taking a hard look. I like Indiana but unless something happens where I can’t pick from Cincinnati, Michigan or Michigan State, I won’t be taking a visit there.” So how was the visit? “It was good, C.J. Cobb was my host and he’s a really cool guy and funny. We ate a lot of food and got to check out the Bearcats basketball game against crosstown rival Xavier. That was real neat. But the highlight was getting a chance to sit down with head coach Brian Kelly and talk. He’s got a lot of charisma and is really cool.” One person who will play a role in where Henry goes to college is his mother. She also made the official visit and Henry spoke about his mother’s thoughts. “My mom is from Chicago and she really likes Cincinnati as a city. She talked with all the coaches and Coach Quinn has ties to Chicago also. She liked what she saw from the university and I think she would have no problem if I went there.” While it was only his first visit Conway gave the Bearcats a passing mark. “I’d give my visit a grade of a 10. I had a lot of fun with the guys on the team and I really like what is going on at Cincinnati.” While Conway isn’t ready to make the call and end his recruiting he knows the Bearcats have what he’s looking for. “I would have a chance to play as a freshman at Cincinnati. That would be great but I’m not too concerned with that right now. I wouldn’t have a problem if I needed to red shirt my freshman season and get better on the scout team. That would allow me to get stronger and work on my foot work as well.” As for when the Conway will make the call the future college offensive lineman has some thought about the timeline. “I’ve got to take these other official visits before I make my choice. After I get done with them I’ll be able to make my decision. But it might be close to signing day.” Scout.com will check back with Henry to get the latest on his other visits in the coming weeks.
