Betancourt Holds Four Offers
Seth Betancourt, a 6-foot-6.5, 280-pound offensive tackle from Philadelphia, Pa., now holds four written scholarship offers and was just given an early four-star rating by the recruiting experts at Scout.com. He talked with us about his most recent activity including visitors he is expecting. "I have written offers now from Rutgers, Duke, Virginia and Ball State," Betancourt offered. "Coach (Ron) Vanderlinden from Penn State also stopped in a while ago and told me that Head Coach Joe Paterno wanted me and my family to come up as soon as possible to talk about an offer as well, so I'll be doing that. Two other schools coming in to meet with me this week are Temple and Maryland." Betancourt is still obviously in the preliminary stages of his recruiting and has not been able to research all of his schools, but he shared some insight into his offers so far. "I have talked to Coach David Cutcliffe from Duke several times and he has just filled me in on what's going on with their program," Betancourt said. "He comes off as a nice guy and did a really impressive job this season. I really kept a close eye on them as they have always been a basketball school, but to see the turn around he did down there in just one year was pretty incredible. They also have great academics which my parents are very excited about, so I'll be taking a visit there at some point." "Rutgers is a school that I'm definitely very interested in," Betancourt explained. "I hear from Coach Joe Susan a lot and get handwritten letters from many of the coaches there. The school is really close to home which is a plus and right now they're definitely talking to me more than any other program." "I actually met the offensive line coach from Ball State at Notre Dame camp this summer and to be frank, I really didn't know anything about them at all. Then I watched this season as they played great football and was just blown away by their success. With Virginia, Coach Bob Price has been up to see me once, but that's really the extent of our contact with one another." Betancourt was recently named one of the Top 100 players to watch in the entire country for the Class of 2010.
