Denard Robinson, the 6-foot, 185-pound four-star athlete (cornerback/quarterback) from Deerfield Beach, Fla., has over 20 scholarship offers but is still trying to narrow down his favorite.
Robinson still denies a leader and has already visited Georgia (Sept. 27) and Florida (Dec. 12). "Both visits were great," Robinson said.
"Florida was a lot of fun," he said. "I like everything about them and how they do things there. We went to see their practice and it was intense. It was something I've never experienced before. They're really working hard for the national championship and I think they'll beat Oklahoma."
His player host at Florida was freshman athlete Jeff Demps."He told me to take all my visits," he said. "He said to ask a lot of questions and to spend time with the players and coaches and try to get a feel for what they are saying and if it's true or not."
Robinson also plans to visit Michigan on Jan. 9, Kansas State on Jan. 16 and UCF on Jan. 23. He’s also still considering Florida State.
"I like Michigan because the old coaches from West Virginia are there," he said. "Coach Rich Rodriguez is trying to install his system there and I think I'd be a good fit. They need a good dual-threat quarterback like me."
Speaking of West Virginia (no official visit), Robinson says he's still interested in the Mountaineers as well. "I look at (quarterback) Pat White and think that I could do that," he said. "He's done a great job in that offense and that could be me."
Another thing the Mountaineers have going for them is their coaches. "(Associate head coach) Doc Holliday has been recruiting me for a long time," Robinson said. "We have a good relationship. I like him a lot. He says that I'd definitely succeed in their system."
Kansas State is a new school on Robinson's horizon. "The new coach is going to be running the option more and changing the offense," he said. "I think I'd be able to compete early there."
Although Robinson is ranked as the No. 13 cornerback in the country by Scout.com, he says that all of his favorites are recruiting him for quarterback except for Georgia, which wants him as a cornerback.
"I won't be making a final decision until after my visits," Robinson said. "My family and I are gonna be talking over everything and see what the best thing for me is.
"I really try to get to know the players during my visits," he said. "That's what I look for. These are the guys I'm gonna be with the most and I want to see how they all are and interact."
Robinson reports a 2.9 core GPA and a 19 ACT.
