USAAB Spotlight: Nico Johnson
"It's pretty intense out here," said Nico Johnson. "We are doing a lot of running and banging up against each other. I have done all right, but I could do way better. I have been most impressed with Vontraze Burfict." "It feels real good to be out here. I am in good shape because playing basketball helps you with your legs. I need to improve speed and technique in every area. I want to show everyone out here what I can do." Johnson made a summer commitment to Alabama, but he has considered other visits. The five-star prospect talked about the Tide's season and a recent in-home visit from coach Nick Saban. "Right now I don't think I am going to take any other visits," Johnson said. "I am pretty solid with Alabama. I thought Alabama had an outstanding year. They had the let down against Florida, but still played great. We are going to bounce back next year." "Coach Saban made an in-home visit with me a few weeks ago. The visit went great. He expects out of me what he expected out of his players this year. He wants me to come in, work hard and be great." Johnson finished the 2008 season with 78 tackles, 32 assists, one fumble recovery, one blocked punt and 11 interceptions.
