The Final Two
By
Andrew Bone
Asst. Regional Manager
Posted Jan 7, 2009
Brandon Moore, Scout.com four-star offensive tackle from Montgomery-Carver, (Ala.), has two schools still standing for his signature. Moore talked about the finalists and what has his attention with each program.
"I have decided to narrow my list down to just two schools," said
Brandon Moore
. "They are
Alabama
and
Florida
. I am going to visit Florida this weekend, and then go to Alabama the next."
"Right now I plan to make my decision after the visit to Alabama. I plan to commit on January 22. I just wanted to tell people where I was going, but everyone wants me to have a press conference. A lot of people want to come to it, so I am going to do something with the hats and stuff."
Moore talked about the reasons for trimming the list to the two SEC powers and why the Hurricanes have been eliminated.
"I began thinking a lot about my future," Moore said. "I really could see myself at either one of those schools. I feel like I have a great future ahead of me. Those two schools can get me to where I want to be. They both have great academics and can help put players in the NFL."
"I was set to visit
Miami
, but I am just ready to get my decision over with. I didn’t want to keep taking visits. I didn’t really see myself there or any other program."
When asked if one of the two schools is leading for his services, Moore said, “Alabama is pushing ahead of Florida right now. Both are recruiting me about the same, but Alabama is just a little bit ahead for me."
The visit to Gainesville could certainly turn the momentum for Moore's signature, and coach
Urban Meyer
will make an in-home visit next week. Alabama head coach
Nick Saban
has already made an in-home visit.
Moore talked briefly about the Tide’s Sugar Bowl loss to
Utah
, Florida’s upcoming National Championship Game against
Oklahoma
and his prediction as the front-runner for the 2009 Heisman Trophy.
"I didn’t get to watch the Alabama game because we had a basketball game that night," he said. "I had heard about it though. It was a tough loss for them. It was a little surprising, but it's OK.”
"I am really looking forward to watching the national championship. It’s going to be a great game. All of my friends and I have been talking about it. I think Florida is going to win the game."
"I've been watching a lot of bowl games. I watched the
Texas
/
Ohio State
game last night. That was a great game. I thought Ohio State was going to win it.
Terrelle Pryor
is a great player. He was amazing and is only a freshman. I think he is going to be the Heisman Trophy winner next year."
