Safety Lester White says it’s his academic profile that is holding UCLA back from offering. “Coach Wayne Moses said they want to offer me, but are waiting on my test,” White said. “I’m talking with him about taking a trip there right after the SAT. It could be Jan. 31 or mid-week sometime." New to White's list of favorites is Washington. “I really like the new coaches..."

Lester White, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound three-star safety from North High School in Riverside, Calif., says he probably won’t sign on national signing day.

“I’d like to take at least two official visits before I sign and that’s probably not gonna happen before then,” White said. “I’m not taking the SAT until Jan. 24 and I won’t be able to set up visits until I do.”

White, ranked as the No. 34 safety in the country by Scout.com, said he mistakenly took SAT II on Dec. 6 and not SAT I as he thought, and didn’t take the ACT on Dec. 13 as he originally indicated he would. “I’m taking the ACT in February,” he now said.

“I don’t think I’ll have a problem qualifying once I take the test,” he said. “That’s not the issue. I’m not thinking about junior college. I just need to take the test.”

While White may be confident he’ll qualify, he says it’s his academic profile that is holding UCLA back from offering. “Coach Wayne Moses said they want to offer me, but are waiting on my test,” he said. “I’m talking with him about taking a trip there right after the SAT. It could be Jan. 31 or mid-week sometime.

“I really like coach Moses and UCLA,” White said.

So would White consider committing if the Bruins offered? “I don’t think I’d commit,” he said. “I’d still want to take a few visits and see.”

Besides the Bruins, White also still likes Nebraska and Arizona State, while Washington is new to White’s top five.

“They just offered me a few weeks ago,” he said of the Huskies.

“I really like the new coaches,” he said. “They have coach Steve Sarkisian from USC and I love what he’s gonna bring to Washington. I like how they are rebuilding and they said they’d want to use me all over the field on defense.”

He’s says he’d definitely like to visit Washington officially as well.

Although the Huskies are his most recent offer, White says the school recruiting him the most is Nebraska. “They have real great coaches and I hear from them a lot,” he said. “I’m going to talk with them about setting up a visit too.”

White says he'd like to major in business management and reports a 2.6 core GPA.
