After completing his junior season, Stephen Houston transferred to Lakota West High School in Ohio. Each year talented players go unnoticed. Stephen Houston may be the best player you've never heard about.
"My season went ok," stated
Stephen Houston
. "Our team didn't make it to the playoffs but we played hard."
What were the talented athelete's stats?
"I think I had 887 yards rushing with 11 TDs. I also had 4 catches for 20-25 yards. I played several games with an ankle injury and wasn't 100%. I ended up making all conference."
How has recruiting been for the Ohio prospect? "I just can't wait to get down to
Ole Miss
and play. I committed to Ole Miss around the 4th of 5th game of the season. They are the only school to offer me so far and I like the way they play. The same staff recruited me when I was in
Arkansas
so I know them all very well. I talk to them every week. This week they're at a national coaching convention. Coach Shibest is my recruiter. I like him a lot and I've stuck with him since he was at Arkansas."
What does Stephens discuss with the Ole Miss Coaches?
"They just tell me that I will play RB and special teams. We've even talked about me playing some DB. I'm ok with that. I just want to get on the field. We also set up a visit for next weekend 1/23. If that doesn't work out I'll visit on 1/30."
Houston has all the physical attributes college coaches want in an athlete. The 5'11 210 RB has been clocked as low as a 4.35 but claims a consistent 4.4 forty time. It should come as no surprise that several college coaches are still in contact with the Lakota West standout.
"I'm still hearing from Kentucky,
Tennessee
, Arkansas and
Cincinnati
. I'm thinking about visiting Kentucky and Arkansas but we'll just have to see if it works out."
Stephens is attempting to retake the ACT.
"I made a 17 on my first attempt. I'm shooting for a 20 and I think I can get there."
