Shirey Bound for Villanova

Two-star offensive lineman Dan Shirey has never anchored a line at center before, but he’ll spend his college days doing so as he has just given his verbal pledge to attend Villanova University. We spoke with the local boy about his commitment to the Wildcats and how it came to be.

Dan Shirey, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound offensive lineman from Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, Pa., committed to the Villanova Wildcats today, giving them yet another talented prospect from the Tri-State area, something they seem to do on a regular basis.

“I just committed to Villanova,” Shirey exclaimed. “They’re just an excellent school with academics and I really fell in love with it there immediately. I went to a bunch of their games this year and just took my official visit this weekend which really sealed the deal for me.”

“I really love the coaches and the players there and feel comfortable around all of those guys which is a plus,” Shirey added. “They told me I’m going to be playing center which will be an obvious adjustment for me, but I’m confident that I can get the job done. I just know I’ll be playing for an awesome program and getting a great education, so I can’t ask for more than that.”

Shirey also held written offers from Stony Brook, Maine, New Hampshire and Old Dominion.
