Nico Johnson talks Tuscaloosa visit
"I had a basketball game on Friday night," said Nico Johnson. "I didn't get there until Saturday morning." "I've been there so much now that I didn't really learn anything new. I just went and hung out, looked over the academic program." Johnson plans to major in Criminal Justice when he begins classes this fall at UA. The Andalusia High School star brought family members for this special trip to the Capstone. "My Mom, brother, and my Dad came with me. My Mom liked it a lot. She's always been a hardcore 'Bama fan," said Johnson. While in town Johnson spent some time with future teammates and potential future teammates. "B.J. (Scott) was my host. We hung out with AJ (McCarron), D.J. (Fluker), Julio (Jones), Rueben Randle, Jonathan Atchison, and Petey (Smith)," said Johnson. Johnson talked with his future defensive coordinator and head coach. "We talked about stuff we usually talk about," he explained. "With coach Saban we mainly talked about academics, and coach Smart and I talked playing. It was exciting." On a scale of 1-10, Johnson says, "It definitely was a 10." "We went to Coach Saban's house for breakfast on Sunday, and everybody's family was there. We had a lot of fun riding around on golf carts." When asked if any other visits are on the horizon, Johnson said, "I doubt it. Signing day is coming up fast, and I got basketball going on. I don't think I'll have the time to make anymore visits."
