Perris (Calif.) Citrus Hill athlete Gregory Smith will get to realize his dream of playing in the Pac-10.
That's because Smith committed to Arizona State on Tuesday.
"I committed today and I'm real excited about it," said Smith.
Smith took an official visit to Tempe this past weekend and the trip made a big impression on him.
"The environment, and how they treated me, was what really stood out to me," said Smith.
Smith took the time to think about it following his return home from the visit, and on Tuesday, made the call.
"I committed to Coach (Matt) Lubick," said Smith.
A versatile two-way threat, Smith said his offer came as an athlete, with his position to be sorted out later.
"They offered me as an athlete, so I could play tight end, fullback, d-end or linebacker," said Smith.
Smith said the coaches would like him to make an immediate impact.
"They want me as a true freshman, to come in and play," said Smith.
Smith was a big part of Citrus Hill's 14-0 season and back-to-back CIF championships, starring on both sides of the ball.
