“It’s really confusing right now,” Ka'Lial Glaud said. “I think it’ll come down to my final two visits. I’ll see who wants me the most.” Glaud is scheduled to visit Rutgers on Jan. 23, but admits that he may visit elsewhere. “I’m set up to go to Rutgers this weekend. But I’m not sure. I’ve been to Rutgers like six times already. They are only about an hour away and I know them pretty well..."

With just about two weeks remaining before singing day, Ka'Lial Glaud, the 6-foot-2, 222 pound three-star middle linebacker from Winslow Township in Atco, N.J., says he’s more confused than ever regarding his favorites.

“It’s really confusing right now,” Glaud said. “I think it’ll come down to my final two visits. I’ll see who wants me the most.”

Glaud, aka “KG”, has already visited Iowa (Nov. 15), West Virginia (Dec. 6) and Maryland (Dec. 12) and is supposed to visit Rutgers on Jan. 23, but admits that he may visit elsewhere. “I’m set up to go to Rutgers this weekend,” he said. “But I’m not sure.”

He says he’s also considering Louisville, Tennessee and North Carolina. With three schools and only two visits remaining, Glaud says the local-favorite may end up as the odd man out. “I’ve been to Rutgers like six times already,” he said. “They are only about an hour away and I know them pretty well.”

Glaud, ranked as the No. 42 middle linebacker in the country by Scout.com, has offers from all of his favorites and over 20 total scholarship offers in all.

Back on Glaud’s radar is Tennessee, which went on the backburner after coach Phillip Fulmer resigned. “When coach Fulmer and (secondary) coach Larry Slade left, they pretty much stopped recruiting me,” Glaud said. “But they’ve come back strong again.

“I know they’ve been talking to my coaches a lot and I’ve also talked with (tight ends) coach James Cregg,” he said. “I haven’t spoken with (head) coach Lane Kiffin yet but I know some of their coaches will be coming to my school next week.”

Glaud’s relationship with former Vols secondary coach Larry Slade is the reason why Louisville is now on his list as he’s now the Cardinals secondary coach. “He’s straightforward and really down-to-earth,” he said of coach Slade. “I just like the vibe I get from him.”

In fact, Glaud hosted coach Slade and a few other Louisville coaches at his home on Jan. 20. “My parents really liked them,” Glaud said. “From what they said Louisville seems like a really nice city and they said that I’d have a good opportunity to come in and play early.”

On Jan. 21 Glaud will be hosting Iowa coaches and on Jan. 22 the Maryland staff will be at his house.

“I like the history at Iowa,” he said. “My uncle (linebacker LeRoy Smith) was an All-America there and Shonn Greene (junior running back) is friends with my brother (Anthony Glaud who is now the QB for Delaware State after transferring from Bowling Green) and obviously he’s done great at Iowa.”

Glaud admits that his brother has been a tremendous help during the recruiting process. “He’s gone through everything so it was good to see what it was gonna be like with him,” he said. “I talk to him all the time and he gives me good advice. He says to go where they love you the most. He also told me to check out the depth charts, but I’m not too worried about that.”

Another player that Glaud says he’s sought advice from is (freshman linebacker) Donovan Miles from West Virginia. “We hung out during my visit and we’re friends,” he said. “I still keep in touch with him and like talking to him.”

Although he remains noncommittal about a leader, Glaud says his favorite visit was to Morgantown and West Virginia. “That was probably the funnest visit of them all,” he said. “It was really because of the players. I had a great time with them.

“I like coach Bill Stewart a lot too,” Glaud said. “I’ve liked West Virginia a lot since my freshman year. I don’t even know why. There’s just something about them.”

While the Mountaineers visit proved to be a lot of fun, he says the campus itself that stood out was at Maryland. “It’s a great campus,” he said. “It’s all in a big circle and not all spread out or anything.”

Another thing going for the Terps is that he’s friends with sophomore defensive back Antwine Perez. “He played at Wilson High School so we knew each other,” Glaud said. “He first signed with USC but transferred back because he says he really wanted to be close to his family. He told me that’s the most important thing…to have that support around you.”

Glaud plans on announcing at a press conference at his school on signing day. “I plan on having it narrowed down to five schools by then,” he said. “I’ve got a lot to do before then.”

He says he wants to major in either criminal justice or biology. Glaud reports a 2.9 core GPA and says he is qualified with an 870 SAT.
