Scout.com's #22 nationally rated QB received a home visit from a collection of Ole Miss assistants on Thursday, including the head coach, Houston Nutt. How did the visit go?
"They just left the house," added
Raymond Cotton
Sr. "It was a great visit. We had a couple of Ray's great uncles at our house. They were able to come up to Maryland to meet the staff. They had a good sit down with the Ole Miss coaches. They brought over Coach Nutt (head coach), Kent Austin (offensive coordinator), Mike Markuson (OL coach), and their safety coach (Kim Damerson)."
What all was discussed?
"As we have reported for some time now, we do not want to reveal his school of choice until signing day, so there are some things I will and will not say publicly. But to sum it up, we discussed our decision that we have come to, and the visit went very/very well. We discussed the things we needed to discuss. There were no questions left unanswered. It was very heart warming for my dad's brothers to get to meet the coaching staff."
What plans are in store for Raymond, if he were to attend Ole Miss?
"The only thing I will say is if Ray does come to Ole Miss, then they got their guy. Coach Nutt only plans to take one QB, and they believe Ray is a phenomenal QB. They believe he can do wonderful things at the University of Mississippi."
What type of impression did the rest of the Ole Miss staff leave with the Cottons?
"As a parent, it is all about trust. We have that trust with Coach Nutt, and we have that understanding with Coach Austin, and my two brothers did too. If he chooses Ole Miss, I feel very comfortable he will be taking care of, and we really believe we can trust that staff. They are great people, a class act. They have a great leader, and a great leader is going to have great management skills, and you surround yourself with great people underneath you. That is what Coach Nutt has done over there at Ole Miss. I will leave it at this, the whole staff from top to bottom are the type of coaches we would trust our son to play under."
Scout.com's #20 nationally ranked QB passed for over 2, 300 yards, rushed for another 700, and totaled 35 TD's this season. Cotton played in the Offense/Defense All-American bowl in January.
Raymond will chose between Kansas State, USM, and Ole Miss. Has has already taken official visits to USM and Ole Miss and will visit the KSU this weekend.
