McKinney Beginning Junior Day Tour
Most recruiting fans by now have seen LaSteven McKinney's videos online. The speed, explosiveness and penchant for the big play has earned him somewhat of a cult following. The 5'9, 175-lb running back from tiny Nazareth Academy (La Grange Park, Ill.) is more than a one hit wonder though as he followed up the sophomore season which started his hype with another All-State selection as a junior. Since then, several schools have come calling, including Notre Dame, who he visited over the weekend. "It was good," he said of the visit, "We took and tour and went to the basketball game. It is a really nice campus. I enjoyed myself." McKinney has does not currently have any offers and while it was not discussed with the Irish, he has reason to think they are interested in him. "They didn't say anything [about an offer], but they knew who I was, which led me to believe that they had to have some interest." The next stop for McKinney is more junior days. "Northern Illinois, Michigan State and Illinois have invited me to their junior days and I'm most likely going to try to make those." Arizona, Iowa, Purdue, UCLA, Indiana and Florida have also shown interest in McKinney.
