Scout.com recently talked with DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, MD) star offensive lineman and University of Maryland commit Pete DeSouza.

Scout.com: What will you remember most about your senior season?

DeSouza: We had a tough loss mid-year to our rivals (Good Counsel) on national television. But we came back strong and made it to the championship against Good Counsel. We came together as a team. The senior class and the coaches decided that we can win this and we did it. It was up and down season and that can happen, but in the end we came out on top.

Scout.com: How was the recruiting experience?

DeSouza: It all started last year. It was real cool. My mom really helped me out. And then in June I went to Maryland and loved it so I committed there.

Scout.com: What other schools did you consider?

DeSouza: West Virginia, Rutgers, Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Miami but they were not close like Maryland. Home is home.

Scout.com: What are you most excited about with Maryland?

DeSouza: They have my major and I just want to work hard and try for a spot on the field.
