Covina (Calif.) South Hills quarterback Cameron Deen is headed to play at Northern Colorado, committing there this weekend.
"I am very happy to be going to a great program like Northern Colorado," Deen said in a statement. "The campus is great, the coaches are terrific and this was a situation that was too good to pass up. I am very thankful to Coach Bogan (South Hills HS Head Football Coach), Ms. (Judi) North (Principal at South Hills High School) and the rest of the coaching staff at South Hills for all of their support. I also want to thank my family and all my friends who helped me throughout this process."
Deen visited Northern Colorado over the weekend.
"This is another great day for South Hills HS Football," South Hills Head Coach Steve Bogan said in a statement. "Cameron did an outstanding job for us this year and we are very excited that he has picked a great university in Northern Colorado. They are getting a great quarterback and most importantly, an outstanding student with great family support. Plus, he's a team leader. On behalf of South Hills Football, we wish him nothing but the best in his new journey in life."
In addition to Northern Colorado, Missouri Western and Wingate had offered Deen, and he had a preferred walk-on spot with USC and a greyshirt offer from Fresno State.
Deen finished the 2008 season 169-for-268 for 2,286 yards with 23 touchdowns and four picks and was named San Antonio League Offensive Most Valuable Player.
