Skinner Glad The End is Near
Deontae Skinner profile Deontae had the chance to meet with one of the Mississippi State assistant coaches earlier today. "Coach Hughes from Mississippi State came by the school today," said Skinner. "He told me I was real important to them and things like that. It helped out a little bit. It makes me feel even better about what I want to. I knew Coach Hughes from before. He was recruiting me when he was at Southern Miss." The pair talked about an assortment of issues. Perhaps the most important item on the agenda was Skinner's academic standing. "We talked about me getting eligible and what I need to do next year," said Skinner. "He talked to me about all of that. He says I am an important part of the class. He told me the other coaches are always talking about me." With visits to Southern Miss and Ole Miss in back to back weekend, Deontae has put his commitment to the test. He reports that his status has not changed, but he admits he is not 100% just yet. "I am still committed, but I am still thinking about things," said Skinner. "I will know for sure what I want to do after this weekend. I have had the chance to get to know some of the other coaches and the other schools. I wanted to go through the recruiting process and just find the right place for me." The long and stressful process will come to end for most prospects next Wednesday. Deonate is grateful that the end is in sight. "Signing day is right around the corner," said Skinner. "I know I am ready for all of this to be over. The hardest part is just figuring out what I want to do. My family has always said it's my own decision, so I have to do what I feel is right for my own life for the next four or five years."
