Wilson Sticks

Southern Miss reached down into the Big Easy to nab standout defensive back Deron Wilson out of O.P. Waker High School. As the process wore on, a few other schools tested the level of Wilson's commitment to the Golden Eagles. After an official visit and a pair of new offers, Deron has elected to stick with Coach Larry Fedora and Southern Miss.

"I decided to not take the visit to Kansas State," said Deron."I have decided to stick with Southern Miss. I am going to play for Coach Fedora."

More relieved than elated, Wilson is glad the process is over. He was happy to tell the Golden Eagle coaches of his final decision.

"I had told the coaches yesterday, but I was going to still take the visit," said Wilson. "I was going back and forth. I was kind of like 'Should I or shouldn't I?'. I just thought about it and I don't think it would be right for me to go."

Deron will sign with the Golden Eagles on Wednesday. With his family not too far away, they will be able to enjoy his college career with him.

"My family is happy," said Wilson. "My mom is really big Coach Fedora fan. She is happy for me."
