Matt Couch had committed to Navy days ago, however he wanted to take the time and speak to the coaches at Army before making his decision public, so tonight he went ahead and gave us the go to let Midshipmen fans know that he will be moving to Annapolis for the fall.

East Pennsboro High School center Matt Couch talks about his verbal commitment to Navy.

“I’m going to be going to Navy,” Couch said. “I came to my decision on Friday when I went to Annapolis for the day for an unofficial visit. It was really nice down there and was my second or third time there, so I got the chance to focus on some things I hadn’t gotten to see before.”

“When you sit back and look at the grand scheme of things you just see all they have to offer in terms of playing top level football, the education you’re receiving and the fact that you come out as a commissioned officer which helps for your future,” Couch explained. “When you cultivate that all together and look at the total package I just think it’s one of the best options that anyone could ever have, so it was an easy decision for me to go there, but a tough decision picking between there and Army as they’re both such great options. I’ll also be a direct commit, so I don’t have to go to the prep school at all.”

As a senior, Couch was first-team Conference at offensive line and defensive line. He was also second-team All-State on offensive line.
