No film session or scouting report can ease the feeling a coach gets when he looks across the 50 yards line during warm ups and sees "big monsters" on the opposing team that he wish he had. Most of the time the thought runs through his head, why don't my guys look like that?
Luckily for Coach Mangino and Co. that is the feeling they are going to give opposing coaches for the next four years when they look across the field and see Kansas signee DT Randall Dent.
The 3-star defensive tackle, who hails from South Grand Prairie (TX) High School, is a physical specimen. He has a big, thick, and wide butt, long legs and arms, with a proportionately built torso. This kid absolutely looks the part and after the immediate shock of how good this kid looks, he confirms your preconceived notions, as he plays the part as well. He is definitely not a dog that just barks.
He is dominate at the point of attack as he explodes off the ball and with pure size and strength he is able to destroy offensive lineman. When he comes to play (is not always the most intense guy on the field), he is almost always unblock-able. That is huge news for the Jayhawks faithful because the defensive line needed to add playmakers that can come in a contribute early and with Dent having a college ready body, do not be surprised if you see him on the field next fall.
Good Luck Mr. Dent.
