Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian quarterback Nick Montana is now up to a half-dozen offers, getting one from the Big Ten on Wednesday and he talks about how his spring is looking...

As the 2009 Signing Day came to a close, Ohio State made no delay in targeting one of the top 2010 prospects, quarterback Nick Montana from Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian.

"I got offered by Ohio State on Wednesday," said Montana.

The Buckeyes became the sixth school to offer Montana, joining Arizona, South Carolina, LSU, Maryland and Stanford.

"I'm really excited about it," said Montana. "Coach (Joe) Daniels told me to give him a call and then he put me on the phone with Coach (Jim) Tressell and he gave me the good news."

Ohio State became the first Big Ten school to offer him, giving him offers from four different BCS conferences.

Montana said he's hopeful he'll get out to Columbus in the near future.

"I'll definitely take an unofficial out there," said Montana. "I'm going to figure out some dates so I can check out practice and get to meet with the coaches I've been talking to. I wasn't too surprised (they offered), I've been talking with them for a little while now. So they've been giving me little hints here and there. I'm real excited about the opportunity over there and I'm looking forward to getting out there for a visit."

Even with some new, big offers recently, Montana said he's not in any kind of rush to start paring his list down. "It's still a little too early for me right now," said Montana. "I'm just enjoying the recruiting process but I'll have a better idea in about a month or two. I've taken some visits to a couple schools and I have a couple more planned so that will help me get a better feel for the ones that I like best."

Aside from the six who've offered, Montana also has interest in Oregon, USC, UCLA and Notre Dame, where his father played and his older brother is a part of the Irish program.

At this point, he doesn't have a timeline on a decision.

"I can't really put a timeline on my decision," said Montana. "When I'm ready and I find the perfect fit, I won't hesitate to commit. I'm not going to rush my decision, so it could take me a while but I'll be aiming to make my decision before my senior season."
