Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame linebacker Ace Ward has made his college choice and he's headed to the Centennial State.
"I just signed a national letter of intent to receive a football scholarship and play for the Mesa State College Mavericks," said Ward.
For Ward, the decision wraps up a long process, which saw him weighing numerous options in the last few weeks.
"I have been evaluating scholarship offers and other opportunities over the last several weeks and found that Mesa State is the best fit for me in all areas, academic, coaching, team energy, facilities and location," said Ward.
The staff in place also played into his choice.
"Head Coach Joe Ramunno has been there for 12 years and he and his staff have built the Mavs into a great program that is focused on winning a national championship," said Ward.
And Ward is excited about the opportunity.
"Based upon the Mavs' needs, I have an opportunity to be an impact player and compete and play my freshman year," said Ward. "After a lot of thought, I realized that in my case, if I only have four more years to play football, then I want to play as soon as possible, and Mesa State is a perfect fit for me."
