Virginia Beach, Va., native Matthew Baptiste recently kicked his junior highlight film up to Scout.com for evaluation and we got to see a player who chooses to make sure he’s in his opponents’ faces all day long, especially on their side of the line of scrimmage.

Ocean Lakes High School middle linebacker Matthew Baptiste is hearing from a solid group of schools including Delaware, Duke, ECU, Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech and while he may not bring ideal size at 6-foot, 225 pounds, he does show on film that he is an aggressive player with great instincts.

Baptiste exhibits very good instincts from his linebacker spot and his read and react skills are very impressive. He’s a player that blitzes well and shoots gaps, enabling him to play on the opponent’s side of the line of scrimmage. He will come up and fill gaps and is a sound tackler and also shows some ability in zone coverage. His style of play is very aggressive and he will sift through the garbage to get to the ball carrier.
