Werner Could Be Dominant
Bjoern Werner is a 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman from Germany that played at Salisbury School in Salisbury, Conn., as a sophomore, dominated all comers for a season and then went back to Germany to be with his family. After a year of thought Werner will be coming back here to play for Salisbury so he can approach his dream of playing big-time football. He already has a written offer from Boston College and his coach is hearing from many, many schools including California, Notre Dame, Virginia, Maryland, Rutgers, North Carolina, Vanderbilt and Syracuse. Werner is an awesome, but raw physical specimen. He is very strong at the point of attack, using his long arms very well and has a quick burst into the backfield. He can be dominant at times up front and has the closing speed to catch up to just about anybody. Werner shows great athleticism for his size in coverage and often knocks down balls. He plays with a nasty streak and is a punishing hitter. With proper coaching, the sky is the limit. You can watch Werner playing as a sophomore at Salisbury School here, where he amassed 59 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, two fumble recoveries and a safety in only eight games.
