At 6'3 with a big arm, Brandon Doughty will attract plenty of attention on the recruiting trail. …
Florida QB getting early looks
Brandon Doughty began his prep career at Chaminade-Madonna High but transferred to North Broward Prep, where he had a better opportunity because of the roster situation there. He took full advantage of it as a junior, throwing for 2,259 yards and 26 touchdowns compared to just seven picks. "I just go out and have fun," Doughty said. "I can read defenses pretty well and I just go out and find the open receivers." The strong-armed quarterback is already starting to get major recruiting attention. While he's still waiting for his first scholarship offer, several schools are showing interest. "No offers yet but I'm interested in some that are showing me interest," he said. "Some of the ones I like right now are Purdue, North Carolina State, Texas Tech, and Tennessee." Doughty, 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, grew up a fan of one of the in-state schools but they're not on his list of favorites yet. "Florida State was my favorite team growing up," he said. "Both my mom and my dad went there so it was sort of natural for me. My uncle went there, too. But now that I'm being recruited, I'm wide open and don't really have any favorites." One school that will receive a closer look from the talented signal-caller is Purdue. "I really like Purdue," he said. "I'm planning on going up there during our spring break for an unofficial visit to meet the coaches and to check out the school and everything." Doughty, who claims a 3.0 GPA in the classroom, is playing on the South Florida Express 7-on-7 Team that will compete in Scout.com's National 7-on-7 Tournament in Tampa next month.
