Florida RB has a few early offers
Every major program in the South came in to recruit Deerfield Beach quarterback Denard Robinson this past season. And many of them will be back this year to check out running back Cassius McDowell, who ran for 928 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 288 yards receiving and four touchdowns. "I'm a little small but I'm a speed back with good vision," McDowell said. "I believe I can outrun just about anyone on the field." McDowell, 5-foot-8 and 165 pounds, has already landed a couple scholarship offers and believes many more could be coming soon. "I have offers from West Virginia and UConn so far," he said. "Michigan and FIU have talked about it but I haven't gotten those yet." The talented running back lists both programs who offered among his early list of favorites. "My top ones are West Virginia, UConn, Florida, Michigan, and Miami," he said. "That would be my top five right there." McDowell said he's not real interested in the team he grew up rooting for. "I was a Miami fan coming up," he said. "Look at all those great players they've had and they've won five national championships. They have a lot of tradition. And I actually just got my first letter from them yesterday. They want me to come down to watch one of their spring practices. The thing with UM is that I sorta wanna get away for college, try something new, a new area." McDowell talked about some of the things he'll be looking for when it comes time to make a decision. "The academic program is one and the program itself and how successful they are is the other," he said. McDowell projects as a full academic qualifier, as he claims a 2.8 GPA and a 21 ACT score already.
