A few offers are in, recruiting is heating up, and Takoby Cofield is taking it all in. He is reading the letters, listening to what the coaches say, working hard for more offers, and excited about what lies ahead.

“I talked to Virginia Tech on Monday and they told me they wanted to offer me and that I could make that offer official if I go to their camp this summer,” said Takoby Cofield.

“They are the third school to offer me and I like Virginia Tech. I have been emailing with them back and forth and they have been showing a lot of interest. I got on the phone with them and that is when they offered me. They have an amazing school, they always go to a bowl game, they are good academically, and I like everything about them.”

He has high interest in the Hokies and he was excited about the offer, but another ACC program that has offered him really impressed him recently.

“I went to Duke for their Junior Day and everything went really well. The coaches treated me great, it is a very nice place, they offer a great education, and they really made a big push for me. They showed me a whole lot and they are up there for me, probably on top.”

While Duke may be on top now, the 6-foot-4, 310 pound offensive tackle says he will listen to everyone.

“I am hearing from schools like Virginia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Louisville, Stanford, and UCLA, so I looking at all those schools and waiting to see who else sends me an offer. I don’t really have a favorite, but Duke is up there and I like Virginia Tech a lot too.”

East Carolina has also offered the Tamboro (N.C.) OL and he is looking at the Pirates. The offer is verbal now, but Cofield says they will have the written offer for him when he visits in the near future.

As of now, he said he would like to make his decision in August at the Tamboro jamboree. He has a time in mind and he knows what he is looking for.

“The coaching staff, the player chemistry, the academics, and the family like atmosphere are big things for me,” he said. “I am also looking for a chance to make it to the next level, so all of those things will help me choose the school best for me.”

Cofield has a 3.1 GPA and he plans to graduate early.
