When the Fighting Illini decided to make Eddie McGee's move to receiver permanent, they realized…
Osei Receives First Offer
Miles Osei did it all his junior season. The lefty quarterback from Prospect High in Mt. Prospect, IL passed for 2,200 yards, rushed for 1,200 and scored a combined 40 touchdowns in his team's spread attack. The 6'1, 190-lb dual threat has naturally received some collegiate attention after a season like that and recently was rewarded with his first offer. "I got first offer from Northern Illinois on Sunday," he said, "It felt awesome and I was ecstatic when I first heard it. They are a great MAC school and I'm honored to be even looked at by them." Osei should feel very honored then, because there are many other programs looking at him. He says he is hearing the most from Purdue, Iowa, Michigan State, Central Michigan, Akron, Ohio and Ball State. He has been to junior days as several of those schools. "I went to junior day at Michigan State, I went on Saturday to Purdue and Sunday to Northern Illinois. This Saturday, I'm planning on going to Iowa." Not one to count his chickens before they hatch, Osei says he is not sure what the offer status is at those programs, but he has had contact with their coaches. "Michigan State said I probably have to go to their summer 1-day camp to see skill wise what I could do. I'm in with Coach Roushar and he seemed pretty interested, but I'm not 100% sure how they stand. I thought Purdue was awesome, I talked to all the coaches and they seemed real interested. I enjoyed the campus and visit down there. I called Iowa and talked to Lester Erb. It has just picked up the last couple weeks, but he seemed excited about me getting down there. I'm not sure what interest they have."
