Recruiting profile with DL Reggie Williams

The 6' 1", 255 pound defensive lineman out of Olive Branch will be a two year starter for Coach Scott Samsel's defense this upcoming season. To learn more about Reggie Williams, read below.

"Reggie Williams started out in his younger years playing RB and LB for us," added Scott Samsel. "That tells you what kind of feet the kid has, but he kept getting bigger and bigger and we needed him on the defensive line, so that is where we moved him."

Williams collected 44 tackles, 8 for losses, 4 sacks, and 1 recovered fumble in his first year on the defensive line.

"Defensive line is his strong point because he is a good pass rusher. He has a strong upper and lower body. He moves around well. He played a lot as a sophomore and started last year, and we are really expecting him to be the anchor for our defensive front this year."

Like most teenagers, getting bigger and stronger is vital to make that next step, but taking on a leadership role is on the fore front of Coach Samsel's mind.

"Like most of the young guys, as they get older, you want them to take on that leadership role. You have to play every play if you are going to be a leader. He needs to step up in that leadership role. You can't take a snap off, and that is what we want to see from him this year."

Which colleges are showing the most interest?

"It is really the instate schools, USM, Ole Miss, and MSU, along with Auburn, Arkansas, and Arkansas State. Those are really the main schools we are hearing from right now." Recommended Stories
