A great tradition continues as former Alabama stand out Sam Shade teaches his son, Justin Shade, to…
Justin Shade gaining interest
"I don't have any offers yet," said Justin Shade. "I am receiving interest from Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech, Auburn and Alabama. I went to Mississippi State's Junior Day. I was going to attend Clemson's Junior Day, but I was not able to go." "I don't really have anything else scheduled right now. It's still pretty early. I don't really have favorites, but I do like Clemson a lot. I would say they are one of my early favorites." Shade talked more about the Junior Day visit to Starkville. "It went pretty well," he said. "We met coach [Dan] Mullen and a bunch of other coaches. I talked to the linebackers coach [Carl Torbush] for a little while. I enjoyed it. He talked about what they were going to do this year. They are going to change some of the things they have been doing." "We toured the weight room and locker room. We went out to the stadium and watched a highlight tape. We ate in the cafeteria. We talked to our regional coaches and later on we went to the basketball game. It's a pretty nice campus." "Right now Mississippi State is not really one of my top schools. They have a good staff and a bunch of good coaches who have been on championship teams." Shade talked about the Clemson Tigers as one of the early favorites. "I know a bunch of guys on their staff," he said. "I like what they have going on up there." Shade grew up a Tide fan, and the University of Alabama is showing interest. "I was a big 'Bama fan growing up," he said. "They have been sending me a lot of stuff and want me to come to one of their camps. It would be pretty exciting and a cool thing to receive an offer from them." The 5-foot-10, 220-pound prospect recorded 133 tackles in 2008 and was awarded All-County for his performance. "I would say my speed, my strength in my legs and my explosion are my biggest strengths," Shade said. "It allows me to take on bigger guys. My last bench max was 300-pounds, squat 535-pounds and power clean 305-pounds." "I definitely want to improve my lateral quickness. We started working on that a few months ago, and working on my hands." Shade has a couple of factors which are important in choosing a school. "I want a place where I would enjoy going and not too far away from home," he explained. "Hopefully major in something I can pursue."
