First Jeff Smoker and now Dave Shinskie could be the next Pennsylvania gunslinger to play his college football for Michigan State.

Pennsylvania gunslinger Dave Shinskie has put up some terrific numbers in 2002. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder, from Mt. Carmel passed for 2,552 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Shinskie was scheduled to visit Iowa and Indiana in December but according to Shinskie’s father, both visits had been canceled.

“We were supposed to visit Iowa on December 13th but they (Iowa staff) asked us to push it back until January 24th because they were in a Bowl game.” Said Dave Shinskie.

“We cancelled the Indiana visit and re-scheduled it for January 17th. Delaware is scheduled for January 9th and either Michigan State or Iowa will be on January 24th.

Michigan State called us and told us that if David comes to visit on January 24th, he’ll have a scholarship waiting for him.”

Dave Shinskie is a terrific football player that has thrown for more than 6,000 yards in his career. However, baseball might be his calling. The New York Mets have shown interest and Shinskie could go very high in June’s amateur baseball draft.

Dave Shinskie was named Pennslyvania (small school) Player of the Year in 2002.
