The 6' 3", 205 pound linebacker out of Yazoo City collected 111 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, and 1 interception as a junior. He has been starting on the varsity team since 9th grade, and he will be basically the backbone for their defense this upcoming season.

"I move around pretty good for someone my size," added Taurice King, which is pronounced "Tyrece". "I also tackle real well, but my speed is the key to my game."

King is already bench pressing 305 pounds and squats an impressive 505 pounds, but this off season is about improving those numbers."

"I ran a 4.6 the other day, and I want to get that down in the 4.5 range. I am also working really hard in the weight room to become more explosive."

Taurice has been offered by the three Mississippi universities (USM, OM, and MSU) and had a chance to take in the Ole Miss and Mississippi State Jr Days.

How did the Ole Miss trip go?

"Me, my father, and my mother made the trip. They liked it, and so did I. It was the first time I had been up there, and it was better than I was expecting. That area is real pretty up there. The weight room, indoor practice facility, and their coaches stood out the most."

The All-State selection talks about his relationship with the Ole Miss coaches.

"It is good. Coach Derrick Nix, I call him all of the time. We are talking about me coming up for a practice. I am going to their first Saturday practice (March 28th) to watch them play. We have a real good relationship. They seem to have a good staff. They had a fast ending last year. They are trying to make a run for the national championship with their new coaches."

What are Ole Miss' selling points?

"They tell me that I can be the next Patrick Willis because I look like him on film. They told me I could make an impact, get a degree, and prepare me to get a NFL contract. Coach Tyrone Nix told me about all of the players he has sent to the league. It is an impressive resume."

How did the MSU visit go?

"It was a good visit. I talked to their LB coach, Carl Torbosh. He came from North Carolina, and he told me that he had 15 players who played under him that signed a NFL contract. I also got a chance to speak with Coach Mullen. He was cool too. We talked about how he wants players from Mississippi, and I am at the top of his list at LB. He told me that most of the Mississippi players go to MSU. He also told me that I could play with Fletcher Cox again."

What stood out the most about State?

"They told me that their LB, #52, is going to be a senior. I could come in and get some immediate playing time. As far as everything else, I left MSU kind of early so I did not get a chance to stay that long."

Where does MSU stand?

"They are good."

And Ole Miss?

"They are real good. It seems like they are recruiting me the hardest. I might go to Ole Miss before MSU because the way they are recruiting me. I just have a real good relationship with those coaches at Ole Miss. I can also fill a need over there. MSU is not recruiting me as hard as Ole Miss. They do not send me the amount of hand written letters, but they are all about the same."

Who is closest to offering next?

"Alabama is recruiting me too. They wanted me to come up there for Jr Day. They might be my next offer.

King reports a 3.0 GPA and a 15 on the ACT.
