'Team Alabama': B.J. Chitty names favorites

B.J. Chitty, wide receiver from Dothan-Northview, Ala., helped lead ‘Team Alabama' to the New Level Athletics 7on7 championship game this past weekend in Tampa, Fla. Chitty has received four scholarship offers and names a top three heading into the spring.

"It was a real good experience being down here with a bunch of great players," said B.J. Chitty. "I didn't expect this amount of competition. It's a real good atmosphere being around these athletes."

"I have only played receiver three times in my whole life, but I had a good weekend. I am being recruited as a receiver. I need to work on getting press coverage. I run good routes."

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound prospect holds several offers from across the country, but the favorites come from other schools.

"My offers right now are Auburn, Nebraska, Southern Miss and Duke," he said. "I have a verbal offer from Alabama. My favorites right now are Alabama, Florida State and Florida."

"I like the way those three programs are achieving their goals. They are all very nice programs, and they win a lot of games."

Chitty made an early commitment to Auburn, but decided to look at all options. He's taking a little more time to evaluate his choices.

"This time I am going to wait a while," Chitty said. "Academics is one thing I am really going to consider. I am going to look at how the program is run, and my fit for the environment."
