Bermond Takes in Hattiesburg
Chris Bermond profile "I am hearing from Arkansas, Ole Miss, (Mississippi) State, Southern Miss, a little bit from Colorado, LSU and Alabama," said Bermond. "The Mississippi schools send me the most. I couldn't make it to the junior days at State or Ole Miss." Chris took in his first junior day this past weekend. "I went to Southern Miss on Saturday," said Bermond. "I liked it a lot. I have always been a huge Southern Miss fan. I have always wanted to go there." One of the main attractions for Chris is the Golden Eagle coaching staff. "I like Coach Fedroa," said the hard hitting linebacker. "There is just something about him. I talked with the linebackers coach and I met with Coach Scott, the graduate assistant. He was at Hancock when I first transferred there. "They didn't say a whole lot. They want me to come to camp and they want to see me then. There were a lot of kids there, so it was tough to get to talk to the coaches." The Golden Eagles were just wrapping up the first week of their spring practice when they held their first junior day. Bermond will soon by strapping on his gear for his own preparations for the season. "We get start in about a month," said Chris. "I know we play Gautier in our spring game. The coaches are going to try to play me on defense only this year. I played both ways last year, but this year they are talking about me just playing linebacker and stopping the run. I have always been a defensive player, so that's fine with me." Bermond has high hopes for the Hancock 2009 season. We are going to be really good at the skill positions," said Chris. "We are returning most all of skill people and our quarterback is working hard. We lost some on the offensive and defensive lines, so we will have to replace some people there." At the conclusion of his high school careers, Chris will select a school to begin his college career. He already has a good idea of what he expects his field of study to be. "I want to be a physical therapist when I get out of college," said the personable Bermond. "Our trainer went to USM and he got all of his courses there and he was telling me about that. That's another thing that makes me like Southern Miss more."
