Charles Burnley, a 6-0, 180 pound running back from Valencia (Calif.) has committed to Oregon State. Burnley had narrowed his choices to the Beavers and Washington State before making his decision.

"When Coach Price left Washington State, that gave Oregon State a bit of an edge," Burnley said. "Plus Washington State was recruiting me as a defensive back and I prefer running back. At Oregon State, I'll get to play my more natural position and that was a big factor."

Burnley visited both Northwest schools and also had offers from Washington and Fresno State.

"The coaches want me to come in at around 200 pounds and compete for the backup job next year," Burnley said. "I think there's a good chance that Steven Jackson could leave early next year and if he does, I'll be able to take over as the starter the following year. At least that's what my goal is.
