Three new offers for Colorado offensive tackle Dillon…
Recruiting Update: Dillon Bonnell
Highlands Ranch (Co.) ThunderRidge offensive tackle Dillon Bonnell has had a dramatic rise in his recruitment over recent weeks. After receiving an early offer from Wyoming, Kentucky and Oregon State followed. Bonnell informed us this morning that Northwestern, Arizona State and Washington extended scholarship offers recently and tonight we learned that he has received his seventh offer."Actually I just got off the phone with the coach from Duke and they offer me," Bonnell says. After watching his tape, it is easy to see why the flood gates opened as soon as his tape hit the desktops of college coaches. Bonnell (6-4 275) has good size, a frame to grow, good feet and an extremely nasty streak. So how does Dillon feel about getting all of this recent attention? He says, "It is a relief and exciting at the same time. I am just trying to take it all in but it is amazing. Playing big time college football is something I have worked my whole life for."Of the seven schools that have offered, Arizona State is the only one he has visited. "I was in Arizona for a baseball tournament and went down to the school and ave them my highlight tape one day. The next day I came back and took the campus tour and they offered after that," Bonnell comments. He adds, "I liked the staff and the campus. I met with Coach Smith the offensive line coach at he says he likes my footwork."At the moment, Bonnell does not have any other unofficial visits set, other than a visit to Boulder for Colorado's junior day, but it is in the making. "I plan on making a trip of schools this summer, " he says. "Iam not sure sure which schools I will go to, it all depends on my parents' schedule but some of the schools will certainly by schools that have offered already."The million dollar question to all recruits is, "When do you plan on committing?"And Bonnell was quick to answer, "I am going to take some official visits. I would like to do it before my senior season is over."He claims no favorite stating, "I have no allegiance to any school but I did grow up rooting for Notre Dame because of the movie Rudy."Other schools that have been in contact include Utah, Stanford, Notre Dame and South Florida. Some factors that will help him decide include, academics, Bonnell is a 4.0 student, "winning and the feel I get from the coaches and the university."He continues, "Being a competitive athlete, I want to win and I want to be comfortable in the place I wil be for the next four years."Bonnell's weight room numbers inlcude a 335 bench, near 500 pound squat and he has run a 4.9 in the forty.
