Bermond Among Combine Standouts
Chris Bermond profile Earlier today, Chris was named to the All-Combine team for his efforts this past weekend in New Orleans. The selection was a welcomed honor for the talented linebacker. "That's awesome," said the 6-0, 215 pounder. "I didn't know about that until now. It's hard to believe. I am real happy about that." Once the day's events were over, Chris felt he had shown enough of what he could do to impress those in attendance with his abilities. "I felt like I did alright," said Bermond. "I feel like I improved in the 40 and things like that. I have been getting ready for a long time. There are some things I can improve on. "The one-on-ones were tough. There were some fast dudes there, so you really had to compete. I just laid it all out there, so they could see what I had." The showing in New Orleans will certain help Chris raise his profile in the eyes of college recruiters. "It's been pretty much the instate schools so far," said Bermond. "I am beginning to hear from Mississippi State more. I am supposed to going up there for Super Bulldog Weekend. I am probably going to stay the whole weekend. There's a lot of these things to go to, so I need to make a schedule." While Bermond is still waiting for his first offers, he believes he is doing the things necessary to elevate his profile as a prospect. "I feel like I am in a good place," said Chris. "I think I am on pace to have a good season and I have been working really hard. I have been working out five days a week for about five months now. I think I am doing what I can." The spring evaluation period will soon be in full swing, so college coaches will be out and about and checking to see if Chris passes the eyeball test. "We start on the 26th or the 27th and we're going to play a full game against Gautier for fourth quarters. It's on May 15th," said Bermond. "I am going to be working on my coverage and working on taking on blocks a lot better. There's a lot of little stuff I want to be better at. This year I am going to be on defense mainly, so I can go full out and not having to worry about getting worn out. I am real excited about the season."
