The Maryland Terrapins land a huge 2010 commitment…
Tyler Smith Holds Seven Offers
Wilson Area High School signal caller Tyler Smith is holding offers from Akron, Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Syracuse and the 6-foot-4, 195-pound athlete has already visited three of those schools for unofficial visits. "Maryland was beautiful and I loved it there," Smith said. "I went there for junior day and then was back for a practice where I got to sit in on meetings with the team. During practice I stood next to Coach Franklin and the rest of the quarterbacks and he is one heck of a guy. I also really like Coach Ralph Friedgen a lot. He's a family guy who puts morals and academics above football and I really like that about him." "Pittsburgh was a really fun visit and I got to go down on the field with them as well and sit in on quarterback practices," Smith explained. "I stayed overnight with Tino Sunseri and he took me out with all of the other players which was awesome. I really liked that the coaches are really close with all the players and it just seemed like a great family atmosphere." "The facilities at Connecticut were gorgeous…I mean amazing, but unfortunately all I got to do was see them. I want to go back up and see them in practice and meet some coaches and players." As a junior, Smith threw for 2970 yards, 35 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He had 500 yards rushing and seven touchdowns. He made first-team All-State for Class AAA.
